From seed to skin
Our founders were botanists who believed that the purest skincare on earth requires the best organic and biodynamic ingredients. The Klein’s horticultural heritage drives Jurlique still; we are passionate organic farmers and uncompromising about the quality of our ingredients. Anything we can’t grow ourselves, we source to our exacting standards – only the finest, most potent organic materials are used in our products.
We have a pioneering spirit equal to our passion for organic ingredients, so we also constantly seek out proven botanicals to enrich our established knowledge and innovate our skincare.
Led by Horticulture Specialist Marc Intervera and his team, the crops at our Adelaide Hills farm are tended, picked and sorted by hand. After being air-dried in sheds, the transformation from organic plant matter to skincare starts with a unique-to-us extraction method called the Bio-Intrinsic process. This three-stage process draws out the potent elements present in the plants and reformulates them to be greater than the sum of their parts.
Optimising the potency of our farm-grown plants in this exclusive way means we deliver on our promise to produce the purest, most effective skincare through nature, science and innovation.
A little more about some of our favourite ingredients...
Calendula - Calendula officinalis
Known for its bright yellow and orange flowers, Calendula has pronounced soothing properties and has been used to rebalance sensitivity on the skin and throughout the body.
Our Calendula crop consists of thousands of hand-picked Calendula flowers. Our biodynamic* growing method allows a more potent plant extract, thus offering us greater efficacy compared to most commercial versions.**

Rose – Rosa gallica
Rosa gallica is a species of rose native to southern and central Europe eastwards to Turkey. It is also called Apothecary's Rose and is one of the roses written about as an ancient medicinal plant.
The rose bushes grown on our farm are referred to as English roses, which are often most commonly called David Austin roses. From the research carried out on David Austin roses, the rose bushes on the farm are a hybrid of Rosa gallica.
Kakadu Plum - Terminalia ferdinandiana
The Kakadu Plum is the world’s richest natural fruit source of Vitamin C, containing 50 times the concentration found in oranges. Vitamin C helps reduce the appearance of skin discolouration and to even skin tone.
Kakadu Plum is a flowering plant native to Australia and widespread throughout the tropical woodlands from North-western Australia to eastern Arnhem Land. Similar in appearance to a green olive, Kakadu Plum has been eaten by Indigenous Australians as a snack for millennia.
Peppermint - Mentha Piperita
The stimulating effects of Peppermint have been shown to revitalise dull skin and improve uneven skin texture. It’s one of the most loved crops on our organic farm because of its arresting and refreshing aroma.
Historically, the herb has been known for its medicinal uses, and its impressively long history within many cultures gives it credibility as one of the world’s oldest natural therapies. Peppermint is known to contain numerous essential oils and minerals.
Beech Tree Bud - Fagus sylvatica
This ingredient helps create a firmer, healthier looking complexion and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Also known as English Beech, the trees often live to be more than 200 years old, which is why it’s known as “the ever-lasting youth tree”.
Beech Tree Bud extract is rich in natural peptides that help to smooth the skin's surface texture and helps improves skin moisturisation and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
